FAQs

What sizes do they come in?
Clearplugs ship with two sets of interchangeable shells that will fit most people (2 standard size shells + 2 small size shells). The shells are similar in appearance but if you place them next to each other you will notice the differences. The filter sits deeper in the smaller size shells allowing them to achieve suction earlier in smaller ear canals. The filters ship in the standard size shells.
How do I switch shells?
Clearplugs ship with two sets of interchangeable shells, and the attenuation filters can be placed in either shells. The best way to move the filters from one set of shells to the other is as follows; Hold the shell with the filter in it between both thumbs with the tapered end of the earplug facing towards you, use both forefingers to slightly pull the clear plastic rim off the top of the filter allowing the filter to slide out. Once the filters has been removed the process is reversed to put it into a new shell, but when placing it into a new shell it helps to tilt the filter 90 degrees as you push it into the opening at the top of the clear shell, then push it down flat into the opening so the rim fully covers the edgers of the filter.
How do I wash them?
Clearplugs are reusable and washable. You can wash them by removing the filters from the shells and rinsing with warm soapy water and letting dry. We don't recommend washing the filters.
Are they waterproof?
Clearplugs are water resistant not waterproof; this means they will be fine if you wear them in the rain, or sweat, but we don't recommend you wear them swimming or submerge them in water. Water can damage the filters and destroy the acoustic clarity.
What is the strength?
All Clearplugs come in 25dB strength. This means you can expect them to reduce noises up to 25dB.
They aren't working, or don't seem powerful?
If your earplugs aren't working, or the volume reduction seems minimal by far the most common cause of this is that they are not actually inserted in the ear far enough. Many customers push the earplugs into the ear canal and think they are inserted correctly but sound is still getting around the shells. In order for these to work you need to notice a distinct suction and significant reduction in sound. If you aren't feeling / hearing this then you may not have them pushed in deep enough and you can push them in slightly deeper with your forefinger, taking care to make sure they are never in so deep that you can't remove them. If you feel they are going in to deep and you still can't achieve suction they may be too small for your ear canals and you should contact us at [email protected]
